30/11/09: Exotique 5!
I got it yesterday! Woot~ it looks great!

[shameless self-plug] My 2009 is on page 112, sweet~! Please check it out! =3 [/shameless self-plug]
Its a great pleasure to have my name among the 208 artists in that book, it just feels....wow. =D
Okay, so its time to do more painting. I haven't got a concrete idea, but I do have the feeling I wanna go for. Hope I can get it started today.
I know I am supposed to finish my centaur...but...but I wanna paint T_T
Inspirations, inspirations, inspirations....
Got a collab with friends on a new personal CG project. Lotsa technical stuff and such. Seems huge for a small team. But it gonna help me get back my long-lost touch. This is gonna be a slow project...
I didn't get into this industry to become an artist. I become an artist to get into this industry.
No matter how I fare, I am already an artist. So I am back to whatever I am meant to be, an ARTIST.
Its really nice to actually see who are my friends and how many I have during these hard times. I used to think its hard to find a good listener in this world, I was wrong afterall. Millions of thanks to my dearest friends for your support, guidance and of course, treats lol. And thanks for guiding me to the right answer. YOU GUYS ROX!!!

03/11/09: Project Centaur Warrior: Zbrush Head
Holiday is over! And I'm back!
Hokay, time to flash out my tablet and start to look like an artist. Look at that layer of dust on my Intuos 3! Hmm, maybe its a good excuse to ditch it and get an Intuos 4 :P
I figured its time I should bring my centaur to life. I have the concept drawings for like...a year. There were too many considerations on accuracy of design blah blah blah. Then I decided, well as long as it looks good, its good. I don't think anyone wanna point out "Hey a ceremonial armor should not be battle weathered!"
Its gonna be a base model done in Maya, sculpted in Zbrush and retopo. The final product will be a low poly game model. Why a low poly game model? Because I do not have a complete one in my portfolio =3
Anyway, I spent the morning doing up the zbrush head. It was half finished the last time I left it. I had recieved critics it could use more daring sculptings. So I did and well it does look alot better.

I will do more details on the ear to make it, well, look like a ear.I will not touch on the back of the head at all since this guy has a helmet. After this I will move on to the helmet. I will post the scans of the concept designs when I'm not lazy to bring out the scanner and install everything.

01/09/09: A new beginning
I recieved complains of no updates. That means there are actually people reading my blog :P

The Formidable 13
True artists and true friends. Farewell, you guys have been great.
What you guys are to me:
Ron - super daddy
Jean - always there with ears and pool cue
SiangCheen - ...dinner
Monica - stole my seat once :)
Bridgette - pretty lady and trashed me once in pool by 5 balls
Jie Hua - lots of jokes
Wee Soon - your hair only lose to Lee Stringer
Jerome - my buddy from 3dsense
Rudy - formidable
Ben - new age sensitive man
King - 120% man
Georgie - helps me catch up when I sleep too much
Some things, when dropped on the floor, cracked into pieces. Some will remain strong in one piece.
I bounce back up.
On a lighter note, my 2009 has been selected for inclusion in Ballistic Publishing's EXOTIQUE 5 :)
Well its on page 112.

Really motivates me to paint on.
I want to give special thanks to my friends Jason and Val for standing by me.

13/06/09: JuMP
No updates for two months. I thought I should put something here before everyone thought I was dead.
I joined the JuMP aka Jedi Masters Training Program (don't ask me where the 'u' comes in) with Lucasfilm Animation Singapore as an apprentice. Its has been 2 weeks since it started on 1 June. Orientation on the first week so nothing too other tough than trying to keep awake on presentations. The real work has started though.
I did quite a few stuff, which unfortunately I can't share them here due to the confidential nature of the work. I probably can't say much on the work itself either. But what I could share is the fun of the program, having a group of artists work and learn together. It feels more like a class than a co-workers. These guys (we call ourselves jumpers) are amazing artists, passionate and driven. It gives me the feeling when I first joined 3dsense Media School. Everytime when I look around, I see serious and focused faces with their eyes fixed on their work and it motivates me to work harder. Jokes will be cracked once in a while to relieve the tension in the room. At every break, everyone will sit around comfortably chatting about art and stuff. They are selfless people who are generous with tips and advices on work and life.
Work hasn't been easy, and will only get more intense. I am starting to stay back late, bringing stuff back home to work on. I am not surprised if I have to stay overnight sometime soon. Maybe its time to dig out the sleeping bag which still smells of 3dsense days.
Graduating from this program and becoming a full-time LAS employee is now my main focus no matter how demanding it gets. I worked hard for a year at 3dsense so that I could get a good Step Two. And now that I am here, I will work doubly hard to get my Step Three. This will go on for the rest of my career life. At the end of every long day, I will reward myself with some cool drinks and the company of friends and loved one. Tomorrow is another battle to fight. I always remind myself things are tough because I take them seriously, and I am one of the few very fortunate ones in the world who actually get to fulfill their childhood dream.
I simply need to work for it.

01/04/09: Fallout 3
My last freelance was finally over. Treated myself with Fallout 3. Good game, worthy of all the Game of the Year awards it got.
This is my character Natalie. Yes, Natalie.
Some goody two shoes kid going around spreading chivalry.

I love the graphics in this game. Especially the concept design.
Wouldn't it be great if they come up with a concept design illustration book for Fallout 3? *dreams*
Last night before I slept I got myself a new modeling project idea. I would like to start it off asap.
But for now I got an important project coming up for the next week. Don't call me unless the aliens attack.

03/03/09: Demo Reel updated
Updated my reel and figured my way around the compression shit.
Things are getting intensive these days. In fact I am running a flu/fever as I am typing these. Just hope I get a stable job so I can lead a more normal life.
